PALS is the acronym for the Public Astronomy Lecture Series, hosted by the UofL dept. of Physics and Astronomy.

Monnik is a restaurant that offers the department use of its upstairs room for these lectures monthly. When you arrive go to the bar and grab a beer and order food. Tell the bartender that you're here for the lecture upstairs, and he/she will give you a number to display by your seat upstairs where the waiter will bring your food.

Paleontology, Past and Present

As historical sciences, there are some parallels between paleontology and astronomy because both disciplines have the ability to examine events of the past, albeit in very different ways. In this talk, Dr. Bulinski will describe how the study of paleontology developed as a scientific discipline, and how paleontologists of the 21st century use modern methods to study the history of life on our ancient planet.

Speaker: Dr. Kate Bulinski, Bellarmine University
