This press release comes from the Kentucky Science Center:
On Friday October 12 and Saturday October 13, the Kentucky Science Center will be hosting its annual Chemistry Days Science Celebration. This two-day event is dedicated to sharing scientific principles and career opportunities to our many visitors. This is our first Science Celebration on the calendar for the 2018/2019 school year and in the past three years we have seen more than 3000 individuals attend this event. With commitments from various businesses, academic departments, and enthusiast groups, our Science Celebrations thrive on partner involvement!
The American Chemical Society has decided to make “Space” this year’s theme! The LAS will join in an official capacity to provide the Space portion of the event. Solar telescopes by day and celestial viewing at night on Main Street at the Friday events. The schedule is as follows:
Friday day- field trips in the building 10:00-2:00
Friday night- the 21+ adult night 6:30-9:30. The link has detailed information.
Saturday- in-gallery programming for family groups of all ages 11:00-4:00
Our plan is to set up solar scopes on the second floor of the Science Center and on Main Street on both Friday and Saturday. Additionally, we will set up scopes Friday evening with possible targets of Mars and Saturn. We need at least three examples of scopes for comparison of types and capabilities.
We will be giving Stellarium presentations and manning our table showing meteorites and handing out yellow cards and other gifts. All members are invited to respond.
